Hardware and software system “GeoRad”
Field tests of a new portable radiation monitoring system (“GeoRad” hardware and software system) developed by the “Sparing-Vist Center” enterprise have successfully completed recently.
The “GeoRad” hardware and software system is intended to measure ambient dose equivalent rate (DER) of gamma radiation and to pick up geographical coordinates and current time from navigation satellites, to display geo-referenced measurement results on the monitor of personal computer (PC), as well as to archive the information.
“GeoRad” is fixed on the vehicle and can be used for construction of portable radiological and radiochemical laboratories. Read more

"Sparing-Vist Center" enterprise participated in Scientific and Methodological Conference on Safety of Living
The "Sparing-Vist Center" company participated in the Ninth International Scientific and Methodological Conference on “Safety of life and activity of person – education, science, practice”, which was held in Lviv at the end of May.
The participants considered the pressing issues referred to the varieties of safety in the third century. In particular, these are theoretical, social and psychological, medical bases and environmental matters concerning people’s safety of living, as well as aspects related to peculiarities of the professional training in “Safety of Living” and “Civil Defense” in the higher education institutions. Radiation safety was considered as a separate issue.
Insufficient awareness of citizens of possible radiation impacts on the human health, and lack of knowledge about the devices that an average Ukrainian can use to detect and measure radiation level were said to hold a significant place in the field of radiation safety challenges of Ukraine.
Within the framework of the issue-related report at the conference the company representatives told about their experience in the introduction of the TM ”ECOTEST” modern home-made devices into the academic programs. They also demonstrated the devices in operation to scientists and experts from specialized department of educational establishments.

”Ecotest” TM products exhibited at «KADEX–2010» exposition
During the period from May 26 to May 29 the First International Exposition of Arms and Military-Technical Equipment “KADEX-2010” (“Êàzàkhstan Defense Exposition”) was held in the territory of the air force base in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. The products of "SPPE "Sparing-Vist Center" were presented at the booth shared with the “AlmaDK” company that is the Kazakh partner of our enterprise. The exposition of our company was the only one to present the whole complex of radiation measurement instruments for security, defense and law enforcement agencies.
The sponsors of this event were the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic State Enterprise “Kazspetsexport” of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over 150 companies demonstrated their military defense complex products.
Representatives of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry for Emergency Situations, the National Security Committee, the border service, the President’s safeguard service, and everyone interested in military and defense equipment visited the First International Exposition of Arms and Military-Technical Equipment “KADEX-2010”. They got acquainted with the TM “Ecotest” products and recognized their high engineering level.
Adil’bek Dzhaksybekov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, familiarized himself with the SPPE "Sparing-Vist Center" exposition. He mentioned the prospects of our participation in the modernization of the radiation measurement instruments that are in service with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Identification device of gamma radionuclides “SPECTRA” developed
A new device type is listed among the products of SPPE “Sparing-Vist Center”. It is the hand-held gamma radionuclides identification device – MKS-11 “SPECTRA” search dosimeter-radiometer. It is designed to measure ambient dose equivalent rate of gamma and X-ray radiation, to determine neutron radiation intensity, as well as to identify the type of radionuclides relative to gamma spectrum without using a personal computer.
The gamma radionuclides identification device “SPECTRA” is an easy-to-use hand-held device used to detect and localize radioactive and nuclear materials relative to their gamma and neutron radiation with the aim to prevent illicit transfer of these materials. It is also used at companies and institutions dealing with gamma and neutron radiation sources.
SPPE “Sparing-Vist Center” is the first Ukrainian company that has developed and will manufacture the devices of such a class. Today this development is at the stage of certification. Click here for more information about the new device.

New version of MKS-05 “TERRA” dosimeter-radiometer
Soon a new version of the MKS-05 “TERRA” dosimeter-radiometer will enter into mass production. The device is equipped with a new information display, PC connection, and has a number of advanced functional capabilities. Now the device is at the final stage of tests and preparation to series production.
The previous modification of the MKS-05 “TERRA” dosimeter-radiometer will be withdrawn from mass production. Click here for more information about additional functions of the new version of the device.

At this biennial exhibition all leading world manufacturers of weapons and military equipment demonstrate their developments and achievements. Social and Educational Program for Higher Education Institutions
A lecture-presentation about modern national radiation monitoring equipment was held on December at the department of anthropogenic and environmental security of the Lviv Polytechnic National University for the students of the 5th year of studying majoring in “Ecology”. The event was initiated by our enterprise – a developer and producer of the “ECOTEST” TM radiation measurement instruments.
Future environmental specialists were given an opportunity not only to gain theoretical knowledge about modern national instrument-making industry, spheres and branches of the dosimeters application, but also to see the “ECOTEST” TM products, and learn how to use these devices.
After the lecture-presentation the representatives of our enterprise presented the department of anthropogenic and environmental security a few copies of the first textbook in the Ukrainian language entitled “Radiation Ecology”. The author of this book is V.A. Batluk, and it was published this year by the publishing house “Znannya”. Our enterprise became a sponsor of this textbook publishing. There you can find in which way and with the help of which devices radiation situation is estimated, the operation theory and application areas of such equipment are also described there. We are interested in providing this book to experts working in the field of ecology and radiation monitoring, to students – future ecologists, to everyone interested in this issue.
We are going to continue this and other social and educational programs in the nearest future.

Software “RadMonitor”
New software “RadMonitor” was developed due to efforts of professional team of PE “SPPE “Sparing-Vist Center”.
Key abilities of new software:
- Simultaneous operation with a few BDBG-09 detecting units. The maximum permissible amount of detecting units is 6.
- Operation with “IT-09” data panel.
- Threshold levels programming is separate for each detecting unit.
«RadMonitor» operates on computers with Windows XP operating system. The BDBG-09 detecting units are connected to the COM- or USB-port of the computer via the serial port adapters, which are developed by PE “SPPE “Sparing-Vist Center”.

“TERRA” is recertified in Russian Federation
Dosimeter-radiometer MKS-05 “TERRA” is successfully recertified for compliance with requirements of technical regulation and metrology and as a result, is registered in State register for Measuring Instruments of Russian Federation. The tests were conducted by Federal agency of technical regulation and metrology.

"Technogenic Safety and Civil Defense of Population" association established
A world-known developer and producer of radiation measurement instruments, the Scientific and Production Enterprise “Sparing-Vist Center”, has become one of the founders of a newly started association “Technogenic Safety and Civil Defense of Population”. This is a voluntary union of institutions, organizations and enterprises that deal with providing technogenic safety and civil defense of population.
Among the Association members there are leading specialized scientific and educational establishments, emergency rescue services, institutions, organizations and enterprises that perform works related to risk analysis, security declaration, development of emergency response plans, design, production, installation and servicing of equipment used to provide technogenic safety and civil defense of population.
The main goal of the Association activity is assistance to Ukraine in reaching European SOL Standards by means of creation of appropriate conditions for effective business activity in the field of technogenic safety and civil defense of population.
Among the tasks of the Association members there are active participation in determination of the development strategy of the field of technogenic safety and civil defense of population in Ukraine, development and realization together with governmental authorities of the Concept and Program of the field advancement, assistance in promotion of the activity prestige in the sphere of technogenic safety and civil defense of population, protection of interests of domestic producers and assistance in domestic and foreign sales of their products and services connected with population safety of living.
What is more, the tasks are to support business cooperation and coordination of entrepreneurial, innovative, sci-tech and scientific-educational activity of Association members with the aim to increase volumes and improve quality of products and services in the field of technogenic safety and civil defense of population, as well as to participate in organization and conduction of the research and developmental works in the filed of population SOL and engagement of young scientists and students.
